Welcome to the Permit to Work training course.

High-risk work activities increase the likelihood of serious accidents if they are not carefully controlled. A permit-to-work system helps reduce these risks by identifying hazards and putting safe measures in place before, during, and after the task.

A permit-to-work is a formal, documented process designed to make high-risk work safer. It involves issuing a paper or electronic permit to a specific individual, authorising them to carry out a particular task within a set timeframe. The permit clearly outlines the controls, precautions, and conditions that must be followed to complete the work safely.

This course is designed for employers and managers who want to understand and apply best practices for permit-to-work systems. You will learn what the system involves, which types of activities require a permit, what information must be included, and the responsibilities of everyone involved in the process.

It’s important to note that this course does not provide or issue permits. Instead, it gives you the knowledge and understanding needed to manage and implement permit-to-work systems effectively in your organisation.

The course is 35 minutes and includes the following key sections:

1. Permit to Work – Introduction : In this section you will learn what Permit to Work system and is why they are required in the workplace.
2. The 12 Steps of a Permit Process : This section explores the 12 steps of a Permit Process and who is involved with the process.
3. System Essentials : The last section focuses on training and competence through audit reviews. You will discover how to create and then file a permit.

By the end of the Permit to Work course you will understand which types of work require a permit-to-work. The duties involved in the system and the key information a permit should include.
