Welcome to the Safeguarding Children – Level 3 training course.
Safeguarding takes a preventative approach. It protects children’s safety and wellbeing while supporting their academic, physical, social, and emotional development.
Child protection is a key part of safeguarding. It focuses on children who are at risk of harm. It uses clear procedures to identify and address concerns.
In this Safeguarding Children Level 3 course, you will start by covering Levels 1 and 2. This builds a strong foundation in core safeguarding principles. You will then move on to Level 3 content tailored to your role as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
This course offers a great introduction for those new to Level 3. It also works as a useful refresher for experienced professionals. While it does not cover organisation-specific details, it supports your internal policies and procedures. You should review these regularly.
It is also suitable for anyone with lead safeguarding responsibilities in organisations that work with children.
This course is 125 minutes and covers the following key sections:
- Safeguarding Responsibilities : This section focuses on the legislation, responsibilities and online safety behind Safeguarding.
- Warning Signs : This section details the signs to look for whether it’s abuse or neglect. It also covers radicalisation and other common warning signs to be vigilant for.
- Effective Response : This section explores how to respond to any signs of abuse in a safe and effective way.
- Written Records : This section looks at why written records must be detailed and accurate.
- Reporting Concerns : The last section looks at who concerns should be reported to and how to report a concern.
By the end of the Safeguarding Children Level 3 course, you will recognise the signs and indicators of abuse and identify concerns early. You will learn how to record information accurately, maintain clear and confidential child protection files, and manage documentation in line with best practices. You will also understand your role as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), respond to concerns effectively, support staff and work with external agencies to protect children.
