This online training course should be used in between practical training as a refresher, and it should not be used in replacement for face-to-face practical training. It is designed to be used by all levels of first aiders.
The course aims to refresh the user’s knowledge on what is included in a primary & secondary survey and also refreshes their knowledge on first aid treatment & procedures.

Welcome to the First Aid at Work Refresher Training, a program designed to update and enhance the first aid skills and knowledge of individuals who have previously completed first aid training. This refresher course covers critical first aid topics, ensuring that participants remain well-prepared to respond to workplace emergencies. - The Primary Survey : Begin by revisiting the primary survey, the first crucial step in assessing and managing a casualty. Understand how to:
- Safely approach the scene of an incident.
- Identify any immediate dangers.
- Assess the casualty’s level of consciousness.
- Ensure the casualty is breathing and how to respond if they are not.
- The Secondary Survey : The secondary survey is an in-depth assessment of the casualty’s condition. Learn how to:
- Conduct a systematic head-to-toe examination to identify injuries and medical conditions.
- Obtain relevant information from the casualty or bystanders.
- Recognize and provide appropriate care for specific injuries and conditions.
- First Aid Treatment : Refresh your knowledge of basic first aid treatment techniques, including how to:
- Control bleeding.
- Manage fractures and dislocations.
- Provide wound care.
- Recognize and respond to shock.
- First Aid Procedures for FULL First Aiders : Review and extend your first aid skills by covering more advanced first aid procedures typically conducted by full first aiders. Topics may include:
- Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
- Treating severe burns.
- Administering an EpiPen for allergic reactions.
- Dealing with poisoning and other medical emergencies.
